Two weeks ago a was doing some product photoshoot for segitiga network latest program Rent A Game. It was an interesting project, and I have just read a great article about photographic style. A photographic style is about consistency, coherence, repetition and originality. There’s a nice quote from the article which makes me think about social media and how it drives people’s style.
Today with social media I feel there is some sort of pressure to shoot like each other and to regroup in communities, which is fun in a way because we learn a lot that way, but ultimately you have to shoot what you like. who cares really if that still life picture you liked so much got no comments on flickr?
And to be honest this is the first product photoshoot that I have ever published, and yeah it didn’t corelate with the article I’ve been reading, its far off with my usual photographic interest but its my first try and it has been quite an experience. And who knows if I will doing some product shot in the future.

Shooting boardgames requires that you know the boardgame rather well at least you had to have to play it once. It’s component, how to play the game and the game features that makes them unique is something that I wanted to show in every picture.
Anyway, the work was done in the second floor of kummara’s office.

I was dealing with two light source and you all know very well that photography its about light, light and light. Light can bring detail to your work and it is something that a photographer must master. Which brings us to to final product, I really wanted to avoid as many post processing, but in the end it was necessary to achieve coherence and consistency throughout the set.

The picture itself wasn’t perfect, there is a cast shadow in the left corner. It can be fixed in photoshop, or doing it the hardware by fixing the lighting and the setting. Adding another light in the left background to eliminate the shadow, diffuse the light or moving the object far from the background. Editing in photoshop would be much easier but but I think there isn’t much fun from that. Actually what I’ve mentioned above was still just a theory, I’m going to try it in my next attempt!
